Every once in a while I do a painting that really excites me. This one has a story.

This is a painting from a photograph taken by a friend of Kens. It was taken in Canyon De Chelly. The Hogan is a "Shinte" Hogan. Someone died inside the Hogan, the inhabitants destroyed part of it and moved out. They left it to the spirit of the departed.

If you look carefully you will see the ghost (spirit) of the departed woman standing by the door.

The mud that once covered the Hogan has washed away leaving just the log shell standing in the open field.

Size 24x30
